Makin Moves

Monday, October 20, 2008

Start of Homecoming week, the fashion show was scheduled for like 8 that night. Todd and Myself were invited to a V.I.P reception prior to the actual show. The Special guest for the evening was none other than Joe Barrato, for those of you who don't know he is the former president of Ralph Lauren Purple Label, Ralph Lauren Black Label, and he practically made Brioni (suits) the brand it is today.

Anyway Todd and I asked him a few question about the clothing industry and the creative process. He gave us some of the most insightful and real answers. He confirmed and opened my eyes to why this man was (and is) such a force in the industry. With 50 years in the game, he's much more than a veteran. Overall, I was very impressed with him not only as a businessman, but he seems to be a down to earth guy on even a personal level.

The actual fashion show left something to be desired, however we did get a few t-shirts out there so I can't really complain. Fonzworth Bentley [Morehouse Alum] performed, but I don't really think he did himself justice, he's the kind of rapper that needs to articulate his words for you to grasp what he's trying to say. But he killed "everybody"

And You know we were in VIP...

Chauce was outside afterwards, the man just touched down and had all these crazy stories to tell about South St.

Something I left out (this post is getting kinda long). The Cafe had spaghetti and I'm just saying this because it was the first time I remember eating spaghetti actually anything other than chicken, that it was refreshing. Not only that, I was privledged enough to sit down with the infamous Alex Jacke.
