Lately, I've been considering the things that bring me joy. Living in Atlanta, allows me to realize how much love I have for uptown. Uptown, the northwestern section of Philadelphia, means a lot to those who I affiliate with. So, my next few posts will have to do with spots around the city that exemplify just why me and my niggas love our city.
Lincoln Drive and Wayne Avenue is an intersection that we all pass by on our way home( well most of us). Passing this intersection makes me think of the time that Joey was doin' 85, on the phone, not paying attention, coming from Franklin Mills, and almost crashed into the car in front of us. It also reminds me of my girl, MY, all u gotta do is "bang that right"(in the words of mal) about one block ahead...and that's her block, Greene street.
As I continue travelling, north on Lincoln Drive, I pass by Joey's house...and witness the busted ass garage and the crooked ball court in the driveway. I always check for the Pacifica(before it was totaled) just to see if him or Ms. Aretha were there.
Moving on I pass by CVS, on the right hand side. The same CVS, that Chris Horne was supposedly employed in the department of Pharmaceuticals. He used to have the beamer parked in the lot. As I make that right onto Mt. Pleasant, I yell out the window..."Charlieeee," who is the owner of hoops barber shop. He's usually out there talkin on the phone, while his customer sits in the chair with his head shaven, waiting for a shape-up. Continuing north on Mt. Pleasant, headed towards Germantown Ave., I encounter a serious decision. The decision is whether I should go left or right on Germantown Ave. If I go left, I can stop by WAWA, for absolutely no reason...just cuz I love the smell, or because I want to see who I might run into. Or I can make that right and see whose playing at Sedgwick. I decide to make the right and as I approach the basketball courts, I roll my window and slow down to see who is playing, and I see my lil cousin's Tyrone and Dominic. I beep the horn, they stop and look, and say "booooogg, where u goin cuz." I continue to Sedgwick street and make that left, and head home...Happy as a lark, thinking...Damn, I love Uptown.
