Supreme Drop

Saturday, August 30, 2008

mmhmm

I guess if that’s what it is, it is what it is.

"When I did a recent interview with Vibe magazine I asked, “Why can’t I get the cover? This is a magazine I love. If there’s one magazine that I’d want to be on the cover of, it’s Vibe.” Their response was they don’t have white artists on the cover; that the only white artist they’ve had on the cover was Eminem. I guess if that’s what it is, it is what it is. And I respect that because I live in a house with a black woman.

I won’t use the word “racism.” I will say it’s a tough — but rewarding — fight. I look at Mary J. Blige, somebody who has had only a few pop hits and yet has changed culture, generated new sounds and inspired leagues of artists. She’s now a worldwide phenomenon. And it’s because of what she stood for; she never gave up. She kept making great music, pouring her heart out to people. You can’t always expect people to be as color-blind or open-minded as you want. What you can do is keep giving your heart and soul, like Bob Marley did. His music became so overwhelmingly loving; it was a relentless love in a sense. Keep beating them down with love and they can’t stop you."

Big Wayne...Autograph Signing

Well, Big Wayne is doing big things in North Carolina. I'm guessing this is some sort of autograph signing, after or before a football game(yea get the ink now you little dickeaters). From his days of riding a little ass mountain bike to the tower, to getting worked in Club Egypt, to getting his car towed by mystical...he finally has arrived. All the jawns that pump faked him in his early years will severly regret there ridiculous actions. So, this upcoming season watch this beast go to work,he hasnt been around the way all summer and we all miss u weezy.

Love,

Champagne Chronic Nightcap

I guess Solange is trying to break away from her sisters "perfect" image ..

Blender Magazine Interview:

Us too. OK, so it’s a Friday night at 11 p.m. What are you doing?
I’m either at home with my son or out drinking some Coronas and adding to my beer belly.

Where do you drink your Coronas?
Dive bars. Two doors down from here there’s a little joint that’s full of old rednecks. I go in there, drop $10 in the jukebox, play nothing but Marvin and Prince and just get wasted. The rednecks are like, What the fuck?!

What kind of drunk are you?
I am a Miss-Tina’s-in-the-back-of-my-head kind of drunk.

You mean, your mom. What is she saying?
“Girl, you better have some panties on!” My mom’s so reserved—last year, for my 21st birthday, she was like, “You can have one glass of champagne, and that’s it.” I said, “First of all, I havnt lived with you since I was 17. Second, I’m divorced. And third, I have a kid. I am drinking tonight.”

If we drug-tested you, what would we find?
I’ve got a song called “Champagne Chronic Nightcap.” That’s about as wild as it gets for me—that and the Coronas.

What’s your favorite curse word?
I’m on a campaign—I want black people to start saying douchebag. It just sounds so grimy. I tried to say it on MTV last week, and they wouldn’t let me. Only douchebags don’t let you say douchebag on TV.

Are you a good girl or a bad girl?
Definitely … um … You know, I was so trained to say a good girl, but I really straddle that line.

Ever doubted your sexual orientation?
You mean like in that Katy Perry song? Negative. I’m strictly dickly.

How about videotaped yourself having sex?
Nope. Ain’t no Solo tapes, y’all.

Sorry—solo tapes?
Solo—that’s short for Solange.

Oh, I thought you meant “solo” solo.
Ha! None of that, either.

How would you characterize your taste in sex?
A good girl never kisses and tells. Didn’t I say I straddle that line?

Again with the straddling.
Get out of my house!

I duno how i feel about it?

Hypeassniggaalert Vol. 1:Alife x Super

I'ma be honest, I like certain things that would be considered "hype". It's not like it was planned or anything, but I can't lie about it anymore. Certain things are just cool to me, even if they are kinda big right now. I think Kaws is great, I love Dunks (but only SB's), and I own multiple Supreme snapbacks. I know that's lame as shit, but the first step to getting over your problem is admitting it. Todd Rock hit me up about these last night. They drop Saturday at Alife stores worldwide, as well as select boutiques, and their dope as fuck.  Released as a collaboration with Italy's RETROSUPERFUTURE, all frames are limited to 80 per colorway and very limited. I"ve got a pair of Retro's (in my profile pic actually), and their pretty fly. So, which color are you getting?

Jesse Lacey

A live version of a new unreleased Brand New song. It's just their singer/guitarist Jesse Lacey, but it's amazing. This is my favorite artist, ever. In the history of music. It's called "Bride", and go check out their 3 albums, specifically "The Devil and God are Raging Inside of Me".

Gone.

Today is my last day in VA for what could be a while. Boxes are shipped out, cars are packed, and pretty much everything I own will be on its way to ATL in the morning. And im feeling alot like that Carlito guy (anybody heard of him?). I really love this place, and thinks its great to actually be a member of something you're also a fan of. Sophomore year is coming soon, and it'll be different of course, but im looking forward to seeing the friends I made last year and more nights of the most random shit ever. Summer was a good time for reflecting. Certain things I wuld've done differently probably, but who wouldn't say that in hindsight. I actually read good books, watched good movies, wrote some of the best music I ever have with The City Snapshot, and had the wildest month of my life back in ATL for Summer School these past three months. But, like everyone else, i'm ready to get back to work. Wave and I are gonna be staying off campus, and post on another blog aswell, but Quarterhug will always be home. Shout out to the homies, see u in a few days.

And I attached a pic of this t-shirt I found in one of the small family stores around Danville, if this shirt didn't look so cheap and they had a large I would have definitely  picked it up, lol

Jordan 6 Rings Roadtrip

Ah, the perks of living in Danville. You can't find a Complex magazine anywhere, all the restaurants close at ten, and there is NO WHERE you will find a pair of the new 6 Ring Jordans (and I had to deal with all of this in one week). So a roadtrip an hour out of the way at 5:00 am was required to get my hands on these. We got to the closest city that had them around 6:00 am, and were the only two people in line, which worked out since they only had three size 12's in stock. ATL, I miss you! I could just walk down the street and pick these up, but it's cool. Being a Jordan fan, I can honestly say these kicks were worth it. I don't usually get that excited for J's anymore, with the re-releases of 23 packs every other week and that bullshit people calll a collabo with AF1, but don't sleep on the six rings, which are in my humble opinion, better than the Spizikes.

Timeless

There are times in sports that can easily be defined as timeless. Jordan hitting the clutch three against the Jazz. Johnathan Papelbon throwing a strike to clinch the world series title. And then, Michael Phelps!
There are certain athletes who go beyond the realm of sport and into a newer deeper realm of soul. There are certain moments in sports that capture the soul, and imgination and make you think, "I can do this. I can do anything"
We all know about the Olympics and the many stories that sorround it. The war between Russia and Georgia, The Human Rights and polluted airways in China, and the many other global obstacles in diplomacy.
But, for two weeks, the world gets drunk. (just a metaphor) The Olympics is like the mistaken meeting of Nations. We all come together and find a common understanding in sport. I love these games but back to Phelps.
Baltimore is really being represented well. Two Maryland swimmers. (Couglin and Phelps) and a Basketball player (Melo of course) are not only members but shining stars in these games. I wish them all the best of luck and congrats again to Phelps for passing Mark Spitz with 8 gold medals.

Summer Reflections (I need to Pack)

So I sat back and realized (I am just as big a fan of this quarterhug place as I am a team member). I must admit this was a good fucking idea. I then began to realize. I leave for Atl tomorrow. I don't quite have the anxiety I had last year but this year I am sure will bring it's surprises. I mean I made some really good friends (Craig, Todd, Tone, Warn, Wave, and the whole Philly crew). All that thinking really made me realize being at Morehouse is truly special.

Then I looked around my fucking cell (my room at my dads house) and realized, "I need to pack. Shit!!!" I look forward to joining the rest of the crew back in Atl, that place we all can call home away from home. PEACE

its over believe it ..

so .. im leaving for atlanta tomorrow morning ..
and id say im in between excited and nervous for so many different reasons. its gonna be so weird not sleeping in my bed that ive slept in for the majority of my life. i mean its going to be so weird not living in the house that ive been in all my life. theres alot of people that im going to be leaving in philly like my parents, family, friends, ISIS!!
also others that are going away to school as well, from canada to boston to florida that im going to miss alot! but at the same time im very blessed to be going down to atlanta where i already have friends that are more like family that i can truly count on. which in the end takes my intital "nervous" feeling away. I cant wait for the experience and all the positive things that will eventually come my way.

some pictures thus far:
