Amazing song and video

All that is gold does not glitter

All that is gold does not glittler,
Not all those who wander are lost;

The old that is strong does not wither,
Deep roots are not reached by the frost.
From the ashes a fire shall be woken,
A light from the shadows shall spring;
Renewed shall be blade that was broken,
The crownless again shall be king.

Rita's...Stenton and Mt. Pleasant (Around the Way)

Rita's Water Ice is a staple, for those of us who live uptown. Especially the Stenton and Mt. Pleasant location. On a hot summer day, after running ball at the tower, we go to Rita's to escape. Sometimes, we all used to go and get some water ice, head back to somebody's steps (Mine, Mal's, Rick Grandma's...) and reminisce. A Rita's water ice, is more than just a cool snack, it's a conversation piece, an outlet, and a day brightener. Every time you enter the parking lot of this great franchise, it's a very good chance that you'll bump into someone you know
( basketball coach, past encounter's, whores, goons, youngn's, etc.)So, if you happen to come to the city of brotherly love, ask for the uptown Rita's, and everyone will know where it is. Feel free to stop by and take part in a keystone landmark in the neighborhood.

An Ode to Uptown

Lately, I've been considering the things that bring me joy. Living in Atlanta, allows me to realize how much love I have for uptown. Uptown, the northwestern section of Philadelphia, means a lot to those who I affiliate with. So, my next few posts will have to do with spots around the city that exemplify just why me and my niggas love our city.

Lincoln Drive and Wayne Avenue is an intersection that we all pass by on our way home( well most of us). Passing this intersection makes me think of the time that Joey was doin' 85, on the phone, not paying attention, coming from Franklin Mills, and almost crashed into the car in front of us. It also reminds me of my girl, MY, all u gotta do is "bang that right"(in the words of mal) about one block ahead...and that's her block, Greene street.

As I continue travelling, north on Lincoln Drive, I pass by Joey's house...and witness the busted ass garage and the crooked ball court in the driveway. I always check for the Pacifica(before it was totaled) just to see if him or Ms. Aretha were there.

Moving on I pass by CVS, on the right hand side. The same CVS, that Chris Horne was supposedly employed in the department of Pharmaceuticals. He used to have the beamer parked in the lot. As I make that right onto Mt. Pleasant, I yell out the window..."Charlieeee," who is the owner of hoops barber shop. He's usually out there talkin on the phone, while his customer sits in the chair with his head shaven, waiting for a shape-up. Continuing north on Mt. Pleasant, headed towards Germantown Ave., I encounter a serious decision. The decision is whether I should go left or right on Germantown Ave. If I go left, I can stop by WAWA, for absolutely no reason...just cuz I love the smell, or because I want to see who I might run into. Or I can make that right and see whose playing at Sedgwick. I decide to make the right and as I approach the basketball courts, I roll my window and slow down to see who is playing, and I see my lil cousin's Tyrone and Dominic. I beep the horn, they stop and look, and say "booooogg, where u goin cuz." I continue to Sedgwick street and make that left, and head home...Happy as a lark, thinking...Damn, I love Uptown.

Akbar

Historically, one of the best Muslim restaurants in Philadelphia. Used to be right up the street from Craig's crib(washington ln, and stenton). I miss driving by in the summer times, smelling the scent of onions and fish, and witnessing the brothers out there hand washin' the cars. The sights of open silk shirts, with wife beaters underneath, jean shorts and timbs, always struck a key in my mental piano. Hoochies laughin, kids playin, and just black people in general enjoying life. Buy Black.

biggest drawing in the world

finally here ..

so after posting about Vashtie and her clothing line "Violette" I went and purchased a t shirt (hype?) .. i think not, i actually really love it! It came on time, I got a free bracelet with it and the packaging was very personal which made me love it even more. I was just telling boog that it reminded me of (in a good way) this clothing line that has been getting a lot of positive exposure lately .. maybe you've heard of it? its called "Chit" ..

I think I'll buy one more until they re-up again ..

Jack Kerouac

Here's to the crazy ones.
The misfits. The rebels.
The troublemakers. The round
pegs in the square holes - the
ones who see things differently.
They're not fond of rules and
they have no respect for
the status quo. You can praise
them, disagree with them,
quote them, disbelieve them,
glorify or vilify them.
About the only thing that you
can't do is ignore them.
Because they change things.

amor

Being one of the only girls on thequarterhug I figured I would speak out about valentine’s day since I know nobody else really will. I mostly want to speak on it because I just got off the phone with boogs brother TJ .. and for some reason when I hung up the phone it was clear to me that love no matter if its between a boyfriend and girlfriend, girlfriend and girlfriend, boyfriend and boyfriend, mother and child, father and child etc is extremely powerful. Not that TJ and I don’t have the type of relationship where we don’t speak to each other, but being in Atlanta getting a call from him was a really good look, like he could have easily hit me up on facebook and said everything he did through a message or wall post but the fact that he called really meant something. I guess my main point here is that ive been seeing A LOT of peoples status on facebook referring to valentine’s day and how they hate it or they wish they had someone to share it with, or that its just a regular day and it shouldn’t even be a holiday. My thing is everyday should be valentines day, there should never be a day when you don’t tell someone you love you that you love them .. that candy and roses shit is great and all but that’s not really the important part to me .. Being in a relationship for now 7 months to this day basically a year if you look at it in other ways with someone who is clearly my friend before boyfriend I have learned so many things. Most importantly I have gained basically another family not just his actual blood but some of his friends have really became some of my really good friends and im really thankful for it, especially being down here in Atlanta with them (shoutout to the TQH fam). Anyway im done with all this love shit buttt I do want to say that I hope everyone has a really good v-day and to keep everyone you love as close as possible.

I have to go there’s half a blunt to my name and Alladin just came on the Disney channel.

if i was a cartoon i would be on him

hope you like my sheets

killin it ..

i dunooo .. how to start this post off without sounding hype or like a dickhead but ..i was on hypebeast looking for a good valentines day gift lol and before i even began looking on the top banner there was a picture of this girl and it said "The Downtown Sweetheart: Interview with Vashtie Kola". I had recognized the girl from this picture i saw awhile ago of her and pharrell .. i think they were an item? anyway .. so as i was reading the interview i realized this girl was another person i would love to intern with besides married to the mob (shout out to craig) .. lol no but as i was reading the article i saw that she had a clothing line so i checked it out and even though theres not alot i like it alot. The line is called "Violette" it looks like its only tshirts and some bracelets so far but she has men (homme) and women (femme) clothes.

The interview with hypebeast, click

her website, click

I could see Craig modeling for it .. Craig Haynes x Violette Homme

pure luck

Look at the top picture and you can see where this guy broke through
the crash barrier (right side where the people are standing on the road).

His truck left the road, traveling from right to left. He flipped
end-over-end, across the culvert outlet and landed on the left side of it.

Now look at the picture below.
