Abakus Takeout

Philadelphia is a city full of murderers, crooks, chumps, water ice, tricks, whores, and a few good sneaker/streetwear stores. So, there's stores like WTHN, Ubiq, afficial, pedestrian, and recently added Abakus Takeout.

I came in my moms room with a dave's quality meat shirt on. She says, "where did u get that shirt?" I told her the theme behind Dave Ortiz's well known sneaker store and she went on to say, "Oh, they just opened something like that here in chinatown"

Mia was talking about Abakus Takeout, a newly opened store that has a chinese store theme, but sells sneakers and streetwear. Check out the website and see if u like the situation.

Heathen Chemistry???

According to disgruntled Oasis guitar player Noel Gallagher, "Hip Hop has no place at festival events".  While his comments were released a week before the festival which included acts such as Amy Whinehouse (Spelling is intentional, peep Kanye's blog), Lupe the Gorilla, and none other than headliner Jay-z. While many celebrity cohorts of "The God emcee" such as Usher and Lupe spoke out against Gallagher's claims Mr. Carter didn't respond directly. Instead He gave one of the best performances of his life he claimed.  Oh Noel, i got success IS like suicide. :)

Get Yours

WELL... Since it is the summer and your prolly by the pool, at the mall or in the club. What better way to cool off or should I say heat up than be joined by a lovely female by your side?

Now use these at your own discretion because 9/10 these will get you rejected but that does mean that ten percent of the time these pickup lines work 100% of the time.

"I want to tell you your fortune." Take her hand and write your phone number on it. "There's your future."

Pick up a pack of sugar that actually says, "sugar" on it... then say "You dropped your nametag!"

"How much does a polar bear weigh? Enough to break the ice- can I get your number?"

"If you were a new sandwich at Mcdonalds, you'de be called the McGorgeous."

"If I had a nickel for every time I saw a girl as beautiful as you I'd have about... 5 cents."

"I may not be the best looking guy in here, but I'm the only one talking to you"

"I'm not actually this tall, I've got this bad habit of sitting on my wallet."

"The only thing your eyes haven't told me is your name. "

"What does it feel like to be the most beautiful girl in this room?"

"I bet I can kiss you on the lips without touching you."

The Hundreds Is Huge!

http://hypebeast.com/2008/06/hypebeast-feature-essentials-the-hundreds/

Showin love to one of our favorite brands over here at The Quarter Hug. Hypebeast has a weekly special on The Hundreds, where four members of the staff discuss the essential things they need to get through the day. And I love how they have Tony from The Hundreds SF reppin The Smiths hard as shit. Go pick up a copy of "The Queen is Dead".
New Wale video - The Artistic Integrity

I fucks with it, I heard the D.A.N.C.E. song but thought maybe I only liked it cuz im a fan of Justice, but yea... homie is pretty official. I like the unconventional mc, props to Wale. Peep the purple foamposites too, fuckin sick.

B.E.T. You didn't think that was a good show

So the BET Awards were last night in LA, and im sure many people tuned in for this star studded event (right?). I'm not a big fan of BET in general, and I definitely wasn't too interested in the nominees or categories considering I have no clue who is on top of their shit in women's R&B. But hey, I was at a friend's house and it was on... off course the highlight for me was watching Jeezy and Yeezy together onstage performing Jeezy's new single "Put On". If you happened to catch the ATL Birthday Bash or saw footage from it, you'd notice that Ye was a little early when his first came on, but got back on track after being corrected by Jeezy. I don't know, maybe it's because this nigga Kanye is so sure he is the shit, but everything he does I find funny as hell. From the fucking glasses to the broads in the space helmets, I think he's more funny than arrogant. But yea, it happened again, Ye came in WAY too early in the song again (kinda like everytime i've seen him do "Everything I am") but saved it with a little help from Jeezy and just going with the flow. And a special shout out to Alicia Keys, you look good girl, real good!!! I aint mad atcha!!!

So we've had all these talks amoung the quarterhug staff about opening up a true online store. We got some feedback from the public, and we liked what they had to say.

This site is still underconstruction but lookout for the launch party coming to a city near you.

Maybach Music Someone...

The better half of the Young Gunz (Chris) laid down some serious lyrics over Jay-Z/Rick Ross' "Maybach Music" beat. Check it out.

80's Born/ 90's Baby

In light of a recent posting courtesy of Hypebeast a thought spawned in my mind. Not only are these a pretty hot pair of kicks but they embody a lot of what the 80's and 90's had to offer. Ironically they were inspired by the late 80's early 90's show "Yo MTV Raps".

They have color and flavor and whether or not you like them they have substance. You cant say that about music in the 21st century. Substance has to hunted by the consumer instead of being dished out by the artist. I saw a pretty funny flyer that sarcastically read "Souljah Boy is Real Hip-Hop." It was advertisement for an 80's party in which Slick Rick and Doug E. Fresh would be in attendence.

I guess all I'm really trying to say in spite of the strides that have been taken by artists like Kanye and N.E.R.D. (to name a few) is that we need to take it back to the late 80's early 90's substance wise. You know when Hip-Hop had that flavor.

P.S.- Craig I will bust your ass in 2K8 and madden just let me know when

Again

Two days in a row..I know Im pushing it but she's amazing..Seriously

Guess who's BACK!

Mr. Wait-A-Minute is back in the porno game, and your not going to believe who's involved in this one.

Ray-J has a new sex tape out with two of th girls from Danity Kane [not sure which ones]. One of his friends was trying to sell the tape, but as you know Ray-J really doesn't mind the publictiy so he's not exactly mad. Supposedly the video was taken from a hidden camera and shows Ray-J messing around with the two DK girls at the same time.

No matter what your take on the situation, you have to admit he is knockin down quality bodies.

I don't know how easy or hard it is to find, because I haven't tried to look for it, so everyone just head over to Limewire or whatever you use to pirate music and try to download it.

I can hear Diddy now...

Record Books Anyone???

Did anyone see this coming. Not me I must admit. Gold in three days and platinum in six. As much as it hurts me to say this not even Jay went platinum within the first week of an album. Its a travesty by some accounts but to me it speaks volumes about the industry.

Although he does have some quality and well composed songs on the album, once again the ring tone hits such and "Lolli Pop" and "Milli" seemed to grasp listeners before the album was dropped. I am still a fan of the Carter II and I feel that was his best album yet.

As they say though numbers talk and Weezy hasn't been quiet for a long time. Big ups CRACKHEAD!!!!

Bye

Cult British/Sri Lankan star M.I.A. has announced her retirement - at the age of 30.
After cancelling her European tour last week (beg09Jun08) due to exhaustion, the Galang hitmaker took to the stage at the Bonnaroo Music + Arts Festival on Friday (13Jun08) and told fans it was her final show.
Three times during her set at the Tennessee festival, M.I.A. said "This is my last show," adding at one point, "... and I'm glad that I'm spending it with all my hippies!"
Midway through her high-energy set, fans climbed over barriers at the front of the audience to join M.I.A. onstage, where they stayed for much of the rest of her set.
After the devotees were kicked off, M.I.A. closed her gig with hit Paper Planes and ended her performance by stating, "Thanks for coming to my last gig."
M.I.A., real name Mathangi Arulpragasam, has been a cult live act since 2004 when her first releases turned her into a controversial star.
She has put out two critically acclaimed albums, Arular and Kala - which was named Album of 2007 by both Rolling Stone and Blender. M.I.A. has been nominated for two Shortlist Music Prize honours and was on the shortlist for the 2005 Mercury Music Prize in her native Britain.

Seeing Sounds Review

Seeing sounds is like one of those Sampler Entrees at a restaurant, sometimes your don't know what you want or like so your given a little taste of everything. Somehow the Neptunes continue to crank out what the people want.

It is very hard to decipher each of the different levels on each track but whenever you listen closely you hear a little chime or bell that you didn't expect adding so much more to the experience. Gangstas and guitars have never blended so well. The 12 track CD was actually a little more indepth because each song seemed to break off into a different beat for a few bars and then revert (Anti Matter 2:43).

,

It's hard to pick a favorite track but im going to go with a tie between "Yeah You" and "You know what".

Ill give Seeing Sounds a 5/5 A DEFINITE MUST HAVE
